All About the Duck-Billed Platypus 10/31/25
Have you ever thought, what is a platypus? Is it a fish or a mammal? Well this will help you answer this question. Platypuses are actually mammals believe it or not, and instead of having live birth, platypuses lay eggs. This is extremely weird because of their beak and claw-like features. Male platypuses have venom on their spurs while females do not. Adult platypuses lack teeth and a stomach, instead using tough, horned pads in their mouths to grind food and collect it in their cheeks. Their duck-like bill is a sophisticated organ equipped with electroreceptors, enabling them to detect the faint electrical fields of prey underwater. Platypuses are semi-aquatic, spending much of their time in freshwater habitats. They feed on small invertebrates and other aquatic life found on the riverbed. And that is the super cool facts about platypuses.
