Bobcat V.S. Lynx

Picture
Bobcat vs. Lynx
By: Savannah Golub

A lynx has longer ear tufts and a completely black tip tail. A lynx also has a grayer coat and snowshoe like paws for deep snow. Bobcats have shorter ear tuffs, and a reddish brown coat with spots and smaller paws. Most lynxes live in forests across Canada, Alaska, and northern parts of the United States. Bobcats on the other hand live mostly in America like in forests, mountains, swamps, and suburban areas. Bobcats are very adaptable cats which allows them to live in any environment. A Lynx's main diet is snowshoe hairs, but they sometimes hunt birds, rodents, small deer, and sometimes fish.  Bobcats hunt a variety of prey such as mice, rabbits, hares, squirrels, deer (fawns and young adults), and woodchucks. Birds that bobcats hunt are turkeys, owls, and grouse. A lynxes' threats are wolves, bears, coyotes, and pumas. Bobcats threats are pumas, wolves, and humans. A lynx can run up to 50 miles per hour while a bobcat can run up to 30 miles per hour.
