Fire Stick Succulent
The fire stick plant, or Euphorbia tirucalli 'Fire Sticks', is a popular succulent known for its pencil-like stems that turn a vibrant red-orange in full sun. Key facts include its native origin in Africa, its extreme tolerance to droughts, and low-care needs, and the fact that it produces a toxic, milky, white sap that is a severely irritant to skin and eyes. Handling requires protective gear like gloves and eyewear. These, however, are fairly easy to take care of. Its rapid growth is a key part in it being easy to maintain. It also produces small, commonly unnoticed, yellow flowers.
