Country of the Week: Tuvalo 11/13/25
Tuvalo is an island in the Pacific ocean. It's in between Hawaii and Australia. In Tuvalo the official languages are Tuvaluan and English. The name Tuvalo means “eight standing together” referring to the populated atolls that existed at the time of the separation from the British colony.
Tuvalo is one of the few countries that has no military forces. Some of the key ingredients that they rely on are seafood such as tuna, lobster and clams. Some of the other things they rely on are coconuts, and plants. And how you say bye in the tuvaluan language is “tofa.” Bye for now. Stay tuned for next week's Country of the week!
